I was, as stereotypical and ironic as it may sound, an LGBT child raised on a farm in Oklahoma. However rural and Midwestern my childhood may have been, I still invested time and energy in learning everything from ballet and choreography to fine art photography.
My true passion lies in moving images. I try to use my perspective and background to inform my decisions on-set as a cinematographer and filmmaker, using all the tools available to create imagery that best communicates the project at hand. Challenging ideas and stories excite me, and I love to collaborate with bold storytellers to create experiences for viewers that will start new conversations. I've been known to dance on set, make spontaneous noises when surprised (certainly guilty of the Midwestern "Ope!" when accidentally bumping into someone), and drink way too much coffee on set. Layne has a Master of Fine Arts in Film Production from Florida State University’s College of Motion Picture Arts and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Media Art from the University of Oklahoma. He currently lives in Los Angeles and is a member of IATSE's ICG Local 600. |
